Dr. Mihaela Zigman

Keynote Speaker

Head of the BIRD research group, Broadband Infrared Diagnostics

Mihaela Žigman is the head of the research group “Broadband Infrared Diagnostics” (BIRD) at the Chair of Experimental Physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) and the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ). Her scientific focus is in the field of infrared spectroscopy and systems biology. By combining laser physics and molecular diagnostics, she is developing innovative health monitoring methods that enable the collection of comprehensive health data using minimally invasive techniques.

Dr. Žigman specializes in the development of novel infrared molecular fingerprinting techniques to study human health status. Her work combines fem-tosecond laser technologies, molecular spectroscopy and computational data analysis to develop diagnostic tools that can detect multiple health conditions with just one drop of blood.

She studied at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), and received her Ph.D. from the University of Vienna.
